In 2017 I obtained my master's degree in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the University of Parma followed by the professional qualification as Pharmacist in the same year.

Research activity

A few months later I started my research activity at Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta, Unit of Medical Genetics and Neurogenetics, working mainly in vivo with mouse models for Neurodegeneration with Brain Iron Accumulation (NBIA) associated with congenital defects in the Coenzyme A biosynthetic pathway.

From this research fellowship my scientific interests shifted towards the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disease and iron accumulation. This experience has expanded my theoretical and practical knowledge to different areas as compared to my background, acquiring competence and skills in the main techniques of molecular biology, and made me compassioned for pursing this career path. In 2020, I continued my research with a senior fellowship where I inter-cross my educational background and my research project focusing the attention on preclinical studies of pharmacological efficacy on the animal disease models generated, also involving translational aspects.

Since 2022 I am health researcher and my scientific interests are focused on the description of the molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases with iron accumulation and the identification of new potential pharmacological targets for the development of therapeutic options.

Topics of interest

  • Animal models
  • Neurodegeneration with Brain Iron Accumulation (NBIA)
  • Translational Medicine
