BIOLOGIST
SC  Neurologia 7 - Epilettologia Clinica e Sperimentale
(italian version)

I graduated in Biology and Biomedical Applications in 2017, at University of Parma. In the same year I obtained the qualification to practice as a Biologist. After the thesis experience at Neuroanatomy Laboratory of Neuroscience Department, during I learnt histological tecniques applied on the study of cortico-striatal projections in the macaque brain, since 2018 I have been working as a researcher at Neurological Institute “Carlo Besta” of Milan, in the Clinical and Experimental Epileptology Unit.

Research activity

My research activity is mainly focused on the study of Neuropathology and Etiopathogenetic mechanisms involved on the development of Cortical Malformations, in particular about Focal Cortical Dysplasia and Temporal Lobe Epilepsy.

I have experience in manipolation of surgical samples from patients undergoing surgery for drug-resistant epilepsy and in histological tecniques, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in situ hybridization, acquisition of images in optical and confocal microscopy, use of microtome and vibratome, preparation of organotypic cultures and Mass Spectrometry MALDI imaging experiments, applied on tissues from Epilepsy Surgery.

Topics of interest

  • Epilepsy Surgery
  • Neuropathology
  • MALDI Imaging
