BIOINFORMATICIAN
SC Neurologia 3 - Neuroalgologia
(italian version)

I graduated in molecular biotechnology (Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, 2003) and subsequently I obtained a master's degree in Bioinformatics (Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, 2005), a PhD in Molecular Medicine (Università degli Studi di Milano, 2009) and a II-level master in Molecular Genetic Epidemiology (Università degli Studi di Pavia, 2011). I worked at Institute of Biomedical Technologies (CNR- National Council of Research) and at the Dept. of Health Science (Università degli Studi di Milano). Since 2018, I have been working at the Neuroalgology Unit (Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta) applying analytical strategies for the study of the molecular mechanisms underlying neuropathic pain.

Research activity

With twenty years experience in the field of genomics and bioinformatics in the university and healthcare fields, I have consolidated my skills in statistical and epidemiological analysis for genome-wide association and pharmacogenomics studies, the implementation of next generation sequencing analysis pipelines, both for genomic and transcriptomic (target, exome, RNA and miRNA sequencing), the in silico annotation of genetic variants and molecular ontologies or pathways, the management of large amounts of data and use of ICP computing clusters. I’m collaborating with various operating units providing analytical support for the study of different autoimmune, neuromuscular, neurodegenerative, oncological and motor neuron diseases. This translational supportive activity led to the creation of the Institute's Data Science Center. I have contributed to over 80 scientific articles, achieving an h-index of 33.
