Presentazione:
PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMIST AND TECHNOLOGIST
SC Neurologia 7 - Epilettologia Clinica e Sperimentale
(italian version)
I graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology (1998, 110/110 cum laude) and got a PhD in Applied Biotechnology in Pharmacology and Toxicology (2003) at Univeristy of Milan.
Research activity
I´m a senior neuroscientist with a broad experience in biochemistry, pharmacology, neurodegeneration and neuroanatomy. I graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology and obtained the PhD in Biotechnologies Applied to Pharmacology and Toxicology (2003) at the University of Milan. I initially developed my activity in the Lab of Synaptic plasticity and Neurodegeneration at the Dept. of Pharmacology (UniMi) under the supervision of Prof. M. Di Luca on a project focused on the molecular aspects of Alzheimer disease pathogenesis in in-vitro and in-vivo models.
In 2007 I was granted by the European Social Fund and moved to the Neuroanatomy and Pathogenesis Lab, directed by dr. G. Battaglia at the Neurol Inst C. Besta, where I focused on the neurobiology of epilepsy associated with malformation of cortical development. Since 2017 I’ve been PI of MoH projects at the Epilepsy Unit (headed by dr M. de Curtis) of research projects on the role of neurodegenerative, immunological and autoimmune mechanisms underlying epileptogenesis and the progression of seizure-related brain damage in epilepsy models in-vivo and in-vitro models. I currently coordinate the activities of a fellow and a research collaborator.
Furthermore, since 2019 I have been interested in the immunological aspects of epileptogenesis and the role of DNA-traps in models of CNS autoimmunity.
Topics of interest
- Epilepsy
- Neuroinfiammation
- Neurodegenerations
