I obtained the Master degree in Neurobiology at the University of Pavia in March 2008. In 2013, I obtained the title of PhD in Translational and Molecular Medicine at the University of Milan Bicocca. In March 2017, I obtained the qualification as Professional Biologist at the University of Pavia.

Research activity

In 2008, I won a junior fellowship at UOC Neurology 4 and started to work in the field of motor neuron diseases, focusing on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). I was actively involved in several research projects aimed at understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying ALS, to identify new therapeutic targets for the development of innovative treatments, and biomarkers for improving the diagnostic and prognostic process. In particular, my studies aim to disclose the biological basis of motor neuron degeneration and muscle atrophy, by combining molecular analyses with in vitro and in vivo studies. +ù

The results of my research contributed to disclose the role of specific microRNAs in degenerative events associated with ALS. I have extensive experience in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry methods, cellular and animal models and in vivo studies, with competences in microRNA profiling, generation and use of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and multi-electrode array (MEA) technology. From 2019 to date, I am Health Researcher at the same UOC, where I coordinate and carry out translational research projects, supervising the activities of junior and senior fellowships, graduate and PhD students.
