Presentazione:
BIOTECHNOLOGIST
SC Neurologia 4 - Neuroimmunologia e Malattie neuromuscolari
(italian version)
I obtained my PhD in Neurobiology in 2013 and in the same year I started my activity at the Foundation in the field of neuroimmunology.
Research activity
In recent years I have focused my research on the study of autoimmune processes in patients and in experimental models of myasthenia gravis and multiple sclerosis.
I acquired skills in NGS sequencing methods for analyzing the composition of the intestinal microbiota and implemented the study of the role of purinergic receptors in demyelination and neurodegeneration processes. In detail, my research projects are mainly focused on: a) study of cellular and molecular mechanisms in the interactions between the immune system and the central nervous system for the identification of new targets with immunomodulatory activity; b) analysis of the molecular mechanisms in cellular and experimental models underlying the antigen-specific adaptive immunity in autoimmune neurological diseases; c) study of the intestinal and nasal microbiota and its possible involvement in the pathogenetic processes characteristic of neurological autoimmune disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.
During the years in the Foundation, I was able to expand my network of collaborations, both national and international, in the field of neuroimmunology and to consolidate collaborations with young researchers from the Institute and with groups outside the Foundation.
Topics of interest
- Neuroimmunology
- Autoimmunity
- Human microbiome
