Presentazione:
BIOLOGIST
SC Neurologia 7 - Epilettologia Clinica e Sperimentale
(italian version)
I obtained my Master Degree in Biological Sciences in the 2000 and the PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology in the 2005 at the University of Studies of Milan.
Research activity
I started my research study in the Dr. de Curtis’ lab at the Fondazione Istituto Neurologico C. Besta about the anatomy and the physiology of the hippocampal-parahippocampal system of the guinea-pig brain. I have been studying the mechanisms of ictogenesis and seizure termination of focal ictal activity generated in the olfactory and limbic areas (extracellular and intracellular electrophysiological recordings, ions and neurotransmitter extracellular shifts) in the isolated guinea-pig brain maintained in vitro and in brain slices. Currently, I am focused on the role of the myelin alterations in the ictogenesis. I am also the principal investigator of projects involving in vivo animal models of epilepsy.
Topics of interest
- Epilepsy
- Olfactory system
- Limbic system
