In October 2020 I obtained a Master of Science Degree in Biology cum laude at the University of Milano-Bicocca, defending a thesis titled: “Study of HspB8 chaperonic activity within CASA complex and characterization of the mutant HspB8 IPV”. During the thesis internship, I focused on studying the underlying mechanisms of several neurodegenerative disorders caused by triplet repeat expansions, as such Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 3 (SCA3);
here I gained a good command of various molecular biology and biochemical techniques. Since November 2020 I am working at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta, first as a Research Fellow and starting from 2023 as a Health Researcher, carrying out the development and validation, according to EMA guidelines, of liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methods for the quantification of anticonvulsant and antiparkinsonian drugs in human plasma.
Research activity
DCurrently, my research activity is focused on the development and validation of LC-MS/MS methods for the quantification of novel anticonvulsant compounds, aimed at the study of their pharmacokinetic properties and of pharmacological interactions.
The development of the aforementioned methods is primarily useful for therapeutic drug monitoring, which is aimed at the determination of drug therapeutic ranges and represents a valuable tool to support clinicians in the optimization of patient therapy.
Topics of interest
- LC-MS/MS
- Pharmacology
- Epilepsy
