Presentazione:

BIOTECHNOLOGIST
SC Neurologia 3 - Neuroalgologia
(italian version)

I graduated in medical biotechnology at the Università degli Studi di Milano in 2004. In 2010 I post-graduated at the same University in medical genetics. Since I was a student, I've been working in biomedical research, studying gene mutations associated with hereditary and multifactorial diseases.

Research activity

I am currently involved in projects concerning the genetic characterization of patients suffering from neuropathic pain, in order to unravel genetically determined risk factors and identify new possible drug targets. In the last years my studies were carried out in synergy with different professional figures, leading to the development of cross-disciplinary strategies and contributing to create an inter-disciplinary research group, focused in the study of the molecular mechanisms underlying neuropathic pain.

We implemented the research workflow with translational strategies, such as the Deep-phenotyping, the creation of a Bio-Repository, the set-up of NGS approach for the massive sequencing of hundreds of patients, and the Data analysis, for the processing of combined clinical and genetic data. The knowledge in science is never-ending thus I keep me updated on technological and computational developments in the study of genetic predisposition to late-onset diseases by studying and attending meeting and courses.

I have participated in European research projects and in national and international collaborative studies. To date I have contributed to the publication of 15 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and I have attended more than 20 national and international conferences.
