(italian version)

I have been working at IRCCS Foundation, C. Besta Neurological Institute, Unit of Rare Neurodegenerative and Neurometabolic Diseases, since 2012, becoming a healthcare biologist at the end of 2019. I obtained a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences and qualified as a professional biologist at University of Perugia. I also attended a second level Master's in Biotechnological Methodology for the Environment at the same university.

Research activity

Then, I worked at San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Unit of Biology of Myelin (Dr. Lawrence Wrabetz laboratory) for five years. There, I studied the molecular mechanisms and genetics of myelination, primarily using transgenic mice. I had two short experiences abroad: as a research technician, at Hunter James Kelly Research Institute, University of Buffalo, and, as a research intern, at the Neurogenetics Unit, Institute of Neurology, University College London Hospitals, where I refined my technical skills to study Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) and related neuropathies. Currently, I have an unchanged interest in the field of peripheral neuropathies: my current research focuses on better understanding axon-glia interaction and providing insights into CMT pathomechanisms.

Topics of interest

  • Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT)
  • Hereditary neuropathies
  • Axon-glia interaction
