I did my training and work experience at the Molecular Neuro-Oncology Unit of the IRCCS Carlo Besta Neurological Institute Foundation. First as a graduate student (2007-2008) with a Master's degree in Medical Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine at the University of Milan, then as a fellow (first Junior and then Senior from 2009 to 2015) and finally as Young Researcher (2016-2019). Since December 2019 I have a fixed-term contract as a Senior Researcher

 

Research activity

Since 2013 I have been carrying out activities relating to the genetic and genomic characterization of gliomas by acquiring and improving molecular biology techniques (NGS, Digital PCR, development of new molecular tests for the diagnosis of brain tumors). During my research career I have also acquired cell biology techniques (maintenance of primary cell cultures; development and consolidation of new techniques for the in vitro culture of embryonic CNS tumors) and animal biology techniques. I am a member for Pre-Clinical activities ACC (Alliance Against Cancer) in the Glioblastoma working group with a project aimed at introducing liquid biopsy (analysis of cell free DNA -cfDNA- from CSF and plasma) in the clinical armamentarium in neuro-oncology for differential diagnosis in cases where surgery is not possible
