BIOTECHNOLOGIST
SC Neurologia 5 - Neuropatologia
(italian version)

I graduated in Medical Biotechnology in 2004, I obtained a PhD in Translational and Molecular Medicine (DIMET) in 2012 and since 2016 I have been qualified to practice as a Biologist. I’m attending the post-graduate School in Medical Genetics at the University of Milan.
From 2002 to 2004 I attended the Unit of Neurology 5 - Neuropathology at Fondazione IRCCS – Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta for the development of my degree thesis. Since 2004 I have been a researcher at the same Unit.

Research activity

My research activity is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms responsible for dementia and on developing innovative therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer's disease.

In particular, I am contributing to the design of an innovative therapy based on the anti-amyloidogenic properties of the Aβ1-6A2V peptide.

I am also involved in the discovery of mutations in genes associated with dementia and the characterization of novel variants, the study of the molecular basis of phenotypic heterogeneity in Alzheimer's disease, the role of exosomes in degenerative dementias, new biomarkers for dementia and the development of models based on induced pluripotent stem cells (IPSC) for the understanding of pathogenetic mechanisms and to test new molecules with therapeutic potential for Alzheimer's disease.

Topics of interest

  • Dementia
  • Beta Amyloid
  • Terapy
