During my PhD in “Mathematical Models and Methods in Engineering” (Politecnico di Milano, 2014-2018) I focused on the development and the application of advanced statistical and machine learning methods to biomedical data. I acquired further skills in image analysis and disease modelling during my visiting period at the Center for Medical Imaging Computing of the University College of London, in 2016.

 

Research activities

Since November 2017 I have been working at the Neuroradiology Unit of the “Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta” on diagnostic and prognostic studies related to brain tumors, neurodegenerative and neuromuscular diseases. My current research activity involves (I) the use of machine learning tools for the identification of imaging biomarkers, based on conventional and advanced MRI techniques, and (II) the integration of imaging, clinical and genetic data for personalized medicine. In addition, in 2022 I contributed to create the Data Science Center (DSC) of the Institute, whose aim is to support the researchers of the Institute on a wide spectrum of data analysis problems. Within the DSC, I am responsible for the area of machine learning in neuroimaging.
