Research activity

My expertise is in biochemical and cellular studies of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. I studied the pathological role of macroautophagy in a cellular model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Afterwards I characterized the effects of β-amyloid A673V mutation on excitatory synapses and tested the neuroprotective effect of synthetic compound or cell permeable peptides in vitro or in vivo Alzheimer’s disease models.

In the last five years, I devoted myself to study the effect of tau mutations in patient-derived cells models. Currently I’m investigating the role of tau mutations in genome instability in cell models by performing proteomic analyses.
